Sex Addiction Recovery

Supporting Individuals, Partners & Couples

Sexual addiction and compulsion, like any other addiction, is a chronic condition that destroys individuals and families. Once someone begins to own this condition and recognizes the pain and destruction it is causing, recovery can begin. I have trained with the American Association for Sex Addiction Therapy (AASAT) as a Sexual Recovery Therapist, Partner Recovery Therapist and Intimacy Anorexia Therapist. This training in combination with many years of successfully helping couples resolve distress and to create healthy happy connection means that you don't have to go it alone in dealing with your couple distress caused by sexual addiction.

Sexual Recovery, Partners Recovery, and Intimacy Anorexia Recovery - How do these differ?

Sexual Recovery therapy is specific to the person suffering from sexual addictions. The assessment examines all areas of the client's life with a specific focus on sexual and relational history which has given rise to the use of sex as a way to cope with emotions and stress.

Partner's Recovery is specifically designed to help those who have discovered their partner's sexual addiction and are faced with trying to handle their own intense feels of betrayal, anger and grief. I will help you navigate through the delicate but essential phase of disclosure, develop a plan for recovery and ultimately rebuild trust in the partnership. I will help work through your loss, understand the intense emotions that will be experienced once a sexual addiction is revealed, and help you make sense of the addiction behavior.

During assessment it may be determined that Intimacy Anorexia is part of the couple distress, whereby one person withholds love, sex, and connection; any form of intimacy (usually as a result of a history of interpersonal trauma). This specific condition needs to be addressed so that couples can regain an intimate bond in order to have a successful close connection.
